Nikki Fothergill - Rural West Ward

Nikki FothergillMy name is Nikki Fothergill and I'm standing as a Liberal Democrat candidate in Rural West. I have lived in this ward since July 2013. I have two children, Emily, 12, and Matthew, 9.

As part of being active in the community and the wider field, I have helped in the school PTA, arranged two school discos, and helped at two school fairs. I've been a unit helper in Brownies where I coordinated a river tees cruise, an Easter egg hunt, craft events and even orchestrated Cleveland Fire brigade to attend our meeting so that the children learn about fire safety. I have also supported our local committees by attending Elwick Parish meetings and Wynyard residence meetings too.

I am standing in Rural West because this is where I live and I am passionate that everyone should have a voice, and an advocate, that will work hard to get more for the local residents. I feel that our local community is being under represented within Hartlepool Council. Our needs are not being met. This ranges from fly tipping, to less police officers, which make our community feel less safe, to requests for more action on the A689 crossing problem, and to damaged lamp posts too. I will bring new ideas that will revitalise the local area and fight for a fair deal for all our families.
