Let's stop this Madness

What's your favourite dessert? I love bread and butter pudding. My wife on the other hand loves meringue and so it just has to be an Eton Mess. Which is quite apt at the moment with former Etonian Boris Johnson making a complete mess of things, and even withdrawing the whip from loyal, long-serving Tories like Ken Clarke and Churchill's grandson, Sir Nicolas Soames.

And what are Labour doing while all this is going on - still trying to decide on a Brexit policy. They keep delaying the inevitable by saying they'll make a decision at the next Labour Party conference. But that is not helpful to us voters, and as a result, Corbyn's popularity rating is plummeting.

At the 2017 General Election, Labour said they would Leave the EU. And Corbyn has said that in a future General Election, Labour will again promise to Leave. On Thursday 5th September, the Labour Shadow Foreign Secretary Emily Thornbury said a future Labour government would try to Leave the EU and get the best deal they could, but once that had happened, they'd call a 2nd referendum and she'd vote to Remain - work that one out!

I fully appreciate why many of you voted to Leave. Hartlepool in particular has been forgotten. But not by the EU, but by our Conservative and Labour Governments. They are to blame. While the EU is not perfect (and what organisation is?), over the past few weeks we can see how incompetent many of our politicians are, and how ultimately the North East, and our children, will suffer so badly. So at the next General Election, let's stop this madness, let's stop Brexit, let's vote Liberal Democrat. Sept 21
