Reg Clark was born in Sedgefield in 1958, and was educated at Lister Street Junior School and Brinkburn Comprehensive Schools in Hartlepool. He was Head Boy of Brinkburn, and went on to graduate in Modern History from Christ Church, Oxford.

After three years working for Kobe Steel in Japan, he went on to a varied career in the capital markets in the City of London, as European Finance Director of Kobe Steel, then in recent years as an investor and consultant specialising in the smaller companies sector. He is currently Chief Executive of Rhino Rugby, a sports equipment manufacturing business.

Reg was the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Hartlepool in 1997 and from 2000 to 2005 was national Party Treasurer, being primarily responsible for the funding of the party's 2001 and 2005 General Election campaigns.

During his school and university days he was a member of TDSOB and West Hartlepool rugby clubs, Seaton Carew Cricket Club and Burn Road Harriers; he won two rugby Blues at Oxford.

His predominant policy interests are commercial industrial and fiscal policy; culture media & sport and international relations. He is married with two children, currently at university in Edinburgh and Durham.
