Campaigning for Hartlepool

TIME FOR CHANGE IN HARTLEPOOL AND THE COUNTRY

7.52.22pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 5th May 2010

As we enter the final stages of the 2010 General Election Campaign nothing has changed my final message to the voters of Hartlepool - if you want to bring this discredited and worn out Labour government to book, then only a vote for the Liberal Democrats tomorrow will achieve this. What has changed over the past four weeks our likelihood of success in Hartlepool and the whole country. All credit to Nick Clegg for an outstanding campaign. The leaders debates have finally given us an even platform to show what we can do and Nick well and truly nailed it.

I believe we are now neck and neck with Labour in Hartlepool. Will the Labour electoral machine in the town prove to be the cause of such a large postal vote? Will the obvious hostility to Labour and signs of increasing shift to the Liberal Democrats on the ground translate into enough votes at the poll booths tomorrow to counteract this? Let's see. Let's also hope that nationally we can hold the balance of power, insist on a strong Lib Dem presence in a coalition cabinet (including Vince Cable as Chancellor) and press for fair voting reforms. How could that be worse than what we have had from Labour for 13 years or what we'd get with a full-on Tory government?

Vote Liberal Democrat tomorrow for an exciting political future.
